Life is full of uncertainties and unknowns. Every day there are things we think are well planned and under our control but then life happens and we realize that we are human, those around us are human and very little of our daily lives are truly 100% under our control. What is in our control is how we choose to handle, react to and resolve those unexpected turn of events that happen more often than we would like to admit.
Other uncertainties are when we are taken our of our element or comfort zone and we are sure of "the plan" that someone else has developed. It is hard sometimes to just "trust the process" and not have to know what today is going to be like, what tomorrow is going to be like, who will I meet, how many girls-women-air mattresses-suitcases and stuff can you fit in one classroom the size of an average small living room, where will I be working, what are we eating, when do I get to take a shower, etc, etc....the list could go on! These are all questions that I heard all day today in our first day of arriving at our new home for the week in Monument Valley, Utah.
In the end, the words that were shared about what feelings were experienced today were words like Exhilarating, frustrated, disappointed but excited, gassy, determined, refreshed, and many others that I can't exactly remember right now..it's a little late and I'm a little tired!
Overall, the first day of camp was all of these things and more. There are over 200 youth and adults from Pennsylvania, Texas, Colorado, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Massachusetts!
It is truly a wonderful transformation to watch over 200 people gather together and within less than 5 hours become a community together and continue to grow closer by the day. You can definitely see Christ at work here in this place and I am sure there will be many God moments as the week progresses and we all work together to be the hands and feet of Christ here in Monument Valley.
Tomorrow is another day and the only thing for certain is that there will be uncertainties!
