Suitcases, Sleeping Bags and Tools...Oh My!

This evening we gathered to load the faithful Calvary bus, have some pizza, devotions and chat about our upcoming adventure.
It's always amazing to me how much stuff is needed to pack, load and cram into the back of the church bus for a youth mission trip, even when it's only 8 teenagers and 4 adult travelers! Suitcases stuffed full with skilled "roll packing" to make the best of the space.....5 gallon buckets full of tools, ladders, boxes of supplies, sleeping bags, air mattresses, coolers, water jugs, a few folding chairs, a couple of cots (for those of us who are fully willing to admit that sleeping on the floor for 7 nights is definitely no longer a physically OK thing to do!---Yes! That would be me!) And that's just a sampling of the stuff in the back of the bus, not all the items that go IN the bus! Inside the bus are coolers filled with food, the beloved ABY supply bag with games, first aid items, craft items, etc, etc....a couple of ladders on the floor, some tool buckets that wouldn't fit in the back of the bus, and all the personal things each teen feels they will need for the drive.

It is funny that some of the larger suitcases belong to the men! Of course, their reasoning is that their clothes are bigger than the girls and therefore take a larger suitcase. I'm not so sure I would agree....but I guess it doesn't really matter whether or not I agree, now does it?
Now off to bed for hopefully a restful night of sleep before heading out early in the morning.
Please keep the youth, leaders (and the bus) in your prayers for safe and meaningful travels.
